What are the age requirements for kid classes?
The recommended age range is 5 to 12 years old, however, all ages are welcome. You are the best judge of how well your child will manage, but we are very patient and offer individual help along the way.  You also may sit with your child and offer encouragement.  Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.  Older kids are welcome too and can add more detail to their paintings. We want you to be as original as you like!
Do you offer gift certificates?
YES! Gift Certificates to SPIRITED ART are exceptionally unique and thoughtful gifts for any occasion. You may purchase them online and print them out with a unique code your recipient types in when making a reservation. You can buy them for a single $35 class or any other dollar amount. They never expire.
Is it safe to register online?
Online payment via credit card is secure, fast, easy and will guarantee that your registration is processed immediately. We are using a certificate : 128-bit SSL encryption.  Your information is safely housed on secure servers maintained by The Paypal Pro merchant services devision, one of the leading worldwide providers of online payment transactions.  In addition, your reservation is processed through RezClick, a Florida-based company that manages reservation systems for more than 300 schools across the country.
Do you ever share my information with third parties?
NEVER!!!!!  We only use your email address to send you reminders, promotions, and news about Spirited Art.
Why do I have to pay when I reserve my seat?
The process of registering for a Spirited Art class is like buying theater or sporting event tickets online: you decide when you want to go, select the date and pay for the tickets online at that time.  And, unlike other online ticket purchases, with a Spirited Art registration you have up to the day before your class to change or cancel your reservation with no penalty.
Why do I have to create an account?
Your account allows us to keep track of your reservations so we know when you're coming.  It also helps us keep you informed with reminders about your reservation, special promotions, and new calendar postings.
Can I bring wine?
You can bring any beverage or food item you like!  The way we see it is the more relaxed and happy you are, the better you will learn from this experience!  We do not provide alcohol nor do we provide food or drinks, but our fridge is your fridge!  Bring whatever and make yourself at home!  We provide cups and corkscrews.
What about children's parties?
Each birthday is scheduled for a maximum of four hours, which includes 90 min. of set up time (if needed) and 30 min. post party for clean up.  A minimum of two responsible adults is required to be present, or more according to the following formula: for age 5/ one for every 5 children; for age 10, one for every 10 children, etc...
All art supplies are provided.  The standard cost of $20/child applies, with a $200 minimum, and we have 50 seats available.  Parents and adults may participate and are part of the seat count.  There is no charge for adults who do not paint.
The minimum cost is due when the reservation is made, and the final head count and balance (if applicable) are due one week prior to the party.
I don't feel artistic. What if I can't paint?
The lead artist will take you step by step through the painting.  If you know your colors, shapes and can write then you can certainly handle the basics of painting!  We will give you advice that we have learned over the years, so you can improve and build your confidence in a shorter amount of time.  A relaxed attitude and giving yourself permission to experiment are the most important steps to a great painting!
I used to paint a lot. Is this class only for beginners?
Some people come to this class just because it provides easy access to art supplies.  If you are an experienced painter, feel free to cut loose and take your painting where ever your creativity demands.
When are classes held?
We have evening classes from 6:30-9:00 most days of the week.  Evening classes are geared toward adults.  Children are welcome at all daytime classes.  We offer a 1:00-3:30 daytime class on Saturdays.  We will soon be offering an afternoon class for children from 4 - 5:30pm.  Check our calendar for all upcoming classes.
What if someone I know wants to sign up but doesn't have access to the internet?
You are welcome to register online for yourself and anyone else, or we do accept on-site cash/check payments for unreserved seats 30 minutes before each class, on a first-come-first-serve basis.  On days we are holding a 6:30 class, you may also come to our location to register and pay for any class, not just the one we are about to start.  The only time we cannot assist a registration is during private parties.
Can I register by phone?
You are welcome to check for availability by calling (256)883-3353, but reservations may only be made online or by visiting our location.  You also may come in 30 minutes before any class to take an available seat.  The number of available seats for any class is always updated in real-time as participants register for it.
Why are there age requirements?
Just as classroom activities and teaching styles are tailored to be age-appropriate, our paintings are designed to be fun projects for individuals ages 18 and up, and the after-hours atmosphere and conversations of our evening classes are most appropriate for participants at least of that age.  Teens with a mature attitude are not expressly discouraged from attending, but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.  Of course, you must be at least 21 years of age to bring and consume alcoholic beverages.
What should I wear?
Wear anything comfortable.  We do provide smocks, so don't worry if you have to come straight from work!
Will my painting be dry by the end of the night?
We always paint with drying time in mind, but you can use one of our hair dryers to take care of any remaining damp areas at the end of class.
What size canvas do you use?
We use either 16x20" or 11x14" stretched canvases for our evening classes, based on what we feel is most appropriate for each subject.  We paint our edges, so you don't have to buy a frame unless that is your preference.    For our children's classes we will use canvas board in a standard size.  Canvas boards are more forgiving than stretched canvas and the painting will easily fit into any picture frame.
When do you post a new monthly calendar?
New paintings and event schedules are posted by the last week of the preceding month.  For this reason, we request all private parties be booked at least one month before they are to occur.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Our online system allows us to accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover and PayPal.  You may also show up 30 minutes prior to class and pay with check or cash.  However, to reserve a seat ahead of time you must register through the computer.
Is this going to be a serious art class? Because I can barely draw stick people.
Um, there is going to be wine involved, so I have a feeling 'serious' is not the word to describe this art class!  I think most people are a lot more creative than they think. Granted, we aren't going to start out painting portraits of our kids & pets! But we will work on landscapes, still lifes, and abstract/geometric compositions. I think we can learn a lot about drawing and painting while making holiday decorations, as well. All of these projects will be lighthearted and fun.
How do I sign up for a class?
Go to our calendar page and click on the image of the painting you would like to paint, on the date and at the time you want to paint it. You will be taken to an on line shopping cart where you will complete your reservation. (If it's your first time to our site, you will need to set up an account with a password like on other Web sites.) Note that the calendar will show how many seats are available for that event...if there are no seats available, there will be an option to sign up for the Waiting List for that event, and you will be notified by email if seats become available so you can come back and sign up for it. The number of seats available for an event is always fluctuating as people sign up, and the calendar is updated in real-time. (If you register for a Waiting List, your credit card is not charged...that only happens if you come back an sign up after we've notified you of availability.)
Can I forward your website to friends who might be interested in a class like this one?
Yes!  Please spread the word of the class to anyone you think would be interested.  The more friends you have in a class, the more fun it is!
I have reserved a seat but am unable to attend. What is your policy on cancelling a reservation?
If you cancel the day of the class or simply fail to show, you will be charged for the class because we will be unable to fill your spot at the last minute.   As long as you cancel prior to twenty-four hours before the scheduled class time, you will be provided a full refund.
What time do I need to arrive for a class?
You can arrive 30 minutes prior to class start time and that will give you time to settle in, get a beverage, and start to chat --I mean paint.  If you have already registered, you may show up just 15 minutes prior to class and still be ready to start on time.
I missed a painting that I really want to paint! How often will you repeat paintings?

We are still feeling out the interest for each painting, so it is hard to say when classes will be repeated  If you miss a class that you wanted to take, please let us know and we will try and schedule it again.

How can I reserve a certain date for private party?

We require a minimum of 12 people for a private party, at $35 per person.  If you have at least 20 people, the price drops from $35 to $30 per person.  The maximum number of attendees is 50.  In order to reserve a date for a private party, you will need to have your reservation in by the 21st of the prior month. A check for the deposit of $210, which pays for six people, can be mailed to Rebekah Bynum 4407 Panorama Drive Huntsville, AL. 35801. Please make a note on the check, the date of your party, your phone number, the painting that you have chosen for your party, and the number of attendees .
